Sculpted after depictions of seated elders from the Tumaco–La Tolita culture and finished in vivid red nitrocellulose nail polish, Anciane [Elder] envisions an ancestor rooted in Abya Yala while gesturing toward broader ancestral lineages beyond it, embodying the reclamation of histories long obscured by colonial narratives.
