Interior/Exterior

Interior/Exterior is an unplanned, cathartic series of self-portraits made to communicate and explore emotional states during my late teens and early twenties. Works made during my undergraduate studies at the Rhode Island School of Design were meant to be emotive and provocative. At this time, I used my studio practice to push boundaries, stimulating relational and emotional reactions without regard for prudence or censorship. Some of these experiments were made instinctively, fueled by anger or sorrow and in response to feelings of displacement, disempowerment, and failed romantic affairs. I think these works were intentionally cryptic in order to promote speculation and evoke universal emotions.
